Ok so I finally got around to writing a "sticky" entry ...

Anyway, just to let those of you who are reading my journal that many of the entries (and photos in the gallery) are actually "friends only". This is because they are personal, private entries and pictures ... and I don't want anyone I don't trust reading them.

So that means...... if you want to read those entries (and view those pictures) you have to join tabulas (it's free anyway!) and leave a comment here so that I can add you as a "friend".

If I don't know you, could you please let me know who you are and how you know (or don't know! ) me ... Thanks!

Welcome to the tai-tai club blogring

Are you a tai-tai... or have aspirations to be one? Check out the definition and see whether you fit ...

TAI TAI
noun

1. A term used in Chinese circles for supreme wife (implying situation where a man is wealthy enough to have several "wives") but no longer strictly interpreted. Term now applies to citizens of the world with an Asian viewpoint who have bounds of time and money. A Tai Tai is a privileged lady of means.

2. Supreme of the Supreme is its literal translation. The term implies respect.

To qualify as a Tai Tai, one has to have lots of leisure time, lots of money to spend and lots of gossip to exchange. Business intelligence online in consumer goods and substantial assets.

Real Tai Tai's meet the following criteria:
1. A tremendous amount of leisure time
2. Lots of money to spend. A Tai Tai travels a lot
3. Concerned about status, social standing, and owning the 'latest in anything" that is remotely hot (ie: Pashminas. Fendi Baguette Bag....) God Forbid a Tai Tai be seen with last year's style!
4. Keenly interested in beauty upkeep (pedicures / manicures/ facials/ slimming treatments) Will stop at nothing to eradicate the tiniest sign of ageing.
5. Often associated with do-good charity works and community.
6. Discerning about the company she keeps. Must be in the right social circles
7. Well educated and global in perspective. Has lived on more than one continents. Experience and detail are what distinguishes a real tai tai from the wannabe's.
8. Buy in multiples and only the real thing. To get a better price and for their other homes in New York, London, Hong Kong, Vancouver and Singapore.

Apologies dear blog readers for the radio silence (although I know that there aren't that many of you out there ... haha), I have been super tied in the last couple of weeks ... if not work, then play, and this poor little blog has been neglected. Will try to do some updating in the next couple of days, but in the meantime, check out my new photo blog here:- http://www.photoblog.com/user/felicitious/

Killer view of SF and the GG bridge, as viewed on top of the rolling hills of the North Bay.

Been absolutely swamped lately with work, free time booked out, tied on weekends, but still trying to find that balance. And I'm looking for the calm and routine, but it seems rather elusive ...

Next week will be better ...

Last night, I ventured out into the Mission District, to a fun little lesbian bar (Lexingtons) for a birthday bash. Good drinks, laidback atmosphere but packed. Best moment of the night; when a hot blonde lesbian (I assume) walked past and pointed at me to her friend and said - "she's hot".

Grooved onto Beauty Bar, cramped tiny little joint, the kind of place you don't mind going if you're smashed (and looking to get in a short period of time). But I will definetely go back to check out their martini manicure happy hour ($10 for a martini and a manicure!).

As the bar kicked us out onto the street at 2am (can you believe how early they shut here!), we proceeded to cross the street and consume some of the best Mexican food I've had in my entire life, the quesadilla experience was almost orgasmic.. damn.

Not quite partied out, we (as well as our dancing shoes) went to Mint St to another after hours place, then when that shut we continued on to drink at a friend's place.. you could say, we had a bit of a late one

FUN, now nights like that are why I am in San Francisco...!

NEW...

- YORK

Spent a weekend in New York, tagged onto the back of a work trip. This place is WOW. So much to see, do, eat (mm hot dogs and pretzels) … I spent most of the time walking around (like a tourist should) to the various parts of the city, of course looking at the “famous” touristy kinds of places (highlights include and are not limited to Central Park – I love this place!, Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, Times Square, Madison Sq Gardens, Fifth Ave, Grand Central Terminal, Trump Tower … “you’re fired” … heh), a little bit of shopping (could have been much worse, but I restrained myself), and met up with some friends to, of course, gorge in food and booze. Pictures in the next post ...

- CAR

Good bye hot red Mustang...

Hello cool blue A4!!

So its not quite the convertible I wanted, but its a sleek car and smooth drive... you know what they say, you can't beat German engineering!!

- APARTMENT / FURNITURE

The flat is coming together slowly. I have curbed my insanity by purchasing some furniture (I'm convinced now that an empty apartment can drive you mad), but I think I'm going cross-eyed from the number of choices there are out there... ! But still in need of a dining table, a sofa, and 2 bed side tables... *breaaaaaathe*

- STUFF

So, its been busy busy busy for the last couple of weeks and I have plenty on my plate to ensure that it will continue to be. The slow start on the work front has now dissipated, and its full on all the way. Colleagues leaving left, right and centre - they didn't tell me this before I joined!!!!

Otherwise, been heading out with newly found friends and doing my best to meet new people, checking out the restaurant/bar/club scene (food has been fantastic at almost all the restaurants I've been to!), shopping (outlet shopping is so good!! I've been to Gilroy, but going to check out the outlets in Napa, Folsom, Petaluma... I'm going to be very very broke), discovering delicious Californian wine heh ...

And very exciting, some friends/guests heading this way in a couple of weeks, I just can't wait

Ahhh, I miss the good times of behaving plain silly with my sisters, I don't think I'll ever outgrow it! I realize its probably one of the last times we'll all be together in that house. Sis number 2 moving to Queensland (don't get me started!), and Dad is looking to sell the house, but don't know when. Although its been 3 years since I left and given my nomadic behaviour, somehow that house will always be "home"... it will be a strange feeling to go back to Perth, but not back to that house.

In other news, am currently in the East coast of this country - New Jersey and later this week, New York! My first time, so I shall go picture/tourist crazy ... !

Tomorrow I move into my new flat! So very, very exciting... It is an unfurnished unit (furnished apartments here are crazy expensive!), and all I have been doing of late is looking at furniture and homeware websites, going to furniture, bedding, linen stores after work, and thinking of how I'm going to do up my new empty space. Oh and not to forget all the electronics (TVs, DVDs, and whatever else one needs these days). Setting up a new home is tiring business! I haven't even been craving my normal vices; oh no, is this the beginning of the end of the old crazy party-til-dawn me and of the new home-decorating me?! Naaa, I very much doubt it - old habits die hard Tomorrow night, plans to check out the club scene in the new city!
