[ DV -> PC ]

I'm getting very frustrated. Been spending the last 2 days (on and off) trying to figure out to get the video on my JVC DV onto my laptop. Figured out that I needed a firewire card + firewire cable - my laptop (supposedly) has a firewire card and the 1394 port, thus should be ready to go, and I just bought the firewire cable yesterday from the computer shop.

Well ... it's not as easy as I thought it would be! Somehow, my computer doesn't even recognise that anything is plugged to it. Keep getting the error message 'camcorder/video not found' ... and that is with several different video editing softwares.

Anyone got any idea?

YAY, my sister got an offer to do denistry at uni! She's estatic (jumping around the house, literally) and we are too ... and I know mom would be so proud to know that she got accepted.

... since mom passed away. At the same time it feels both that time has slipped by so fast, yet so slowly.

The pain and sadness seems to have dragged on; the feeling of each second, each minute, each hour is so distinct. At times, I'm not sure how much more of this I can take ...

... but other times, when there is just so much to do and to keep me occupied, time seems to trickle away. Some days melt away, others are ice hard.

Sometimes I make absolutely NO sense at all.

I've booked my ticket back to Singapore a couple of days ago. It costs A$660 (ish) for a one way ticket ... someone tell me that isn't daylight robbery?! To some extent, I understand that the airfare would be a little more than what I'm used to paying for student fares ... but that is just a little(?!) more than I had thought(/hoped)! Doesn't help that the date I booked for is in the shoulder season (around Easter and associated school holidays) ... bum ~_~

A few random shots of Fremantle. Been going down that way a lot recently over the last few months: at first it was Fremantle Hospital, then Fremantle fish'n'chips (and associated tourist-y things) when my relatives from Malaysia came down, and now Fremantle Cemetery.

I haven't mentioned it here before, but ... check out musicBOX for mp3's (mainly cpop). I will be trying to update it regularly, perhaps weekly or fortnightly

I got conjunctivitis again ~_~

Went to see the doc this morning and she prescribed me some eye drops and ointment. Then to the optometrist to check my eyes - you know just in case. Thankfully nothing, just need to get new glasses as my eyesight has worsened since the last time I got glasses. Definitely will wait until I go back to Singapore to get them though, I don't have private health care and a pair of glasses here cost a bomb!

Anyway, here are some pictures of my (very red) eyes ... enjoy! :p

Thank goodness the aircon ban has been lifted ~_~ It's still damn hot here, and somehow don't think things are going to ease up ...

Just came back from the gym where I sweated it out like a pig. Ergh, sounds disgusting and I assure you, it was.

Last night I was out driving and there was an AWFUL thunderstorm (which always happens after it becomes unbearably hot). The lightening was so bright and the thunder was so loud ... sooooo scary. I was on the way home and I saw the lightening hit a lamp post, and there were bright sparks flying everywhere ... it looked something like fireworks, but much more frightening. I felt somewhat safe in the car, but that didn't stop me from rushing back to the safety of my house :p

Had a long afternoon nap after going out for the whole morning to uni. My sis had a Hep B jab (first one) at the uni medical centre and my other sis had a few errands to run at uni. Not missing the place yet ... I think give it a year or so then I'll really begin to miss it; the ref and the cafe, strolling through the courtyard, reid library + sitting outside in the library cafe, the peacocks and the pretty lawns. Hmm ... anything else I missed out? Can't think of it right now ...

Supposed to go to the gym though in the late afternoon, but yeh ... slept instead. Feeling a tad guilty now, so I'll make sure I'll work out twice as hard tomorrow :p (yeh right!)

My motivation (to go to the gym) is still quite strong, but I know if I don't consciously pysch myself it will wane ... thankfully, I suppose, I've signed up for a PT (personal trainer) to motivate me and cause me excruciating pain. Let's hope the outcome is worth the $$$ and the pain!!

Last night I went to a quiz night organised by my friends, AC and Mike, and their church youth group. It's been a LONG time since I've been to a quiz night and I've never been to one of their church organised events.

I had fun, although our table didn't win any prizes ... until the very end when Phil won a Brother label-maker (*sigh* I was eyeing that the whole night ... hehe), the VERY LAST prize. And we certainly didn't win the overall prize ... or even the individual round prizes ... the questions were quite difficult, and there were a few lucky correct guesses and a few bad random (i.e. wrong) guesses too (your fault AC! j/k :p)

I mean, who honestly knows which European country Bruce Willis was born in? Or the 8 categories that Michael Jackson won grammys for in 1984? Or Macguyver's first name? ~_~

But all in all, I had fun night ... even if I did go home empty handed!
