[ BIG mistake ]
posted @ 03:20 AM by fel

Someone PLEASE remind me next time NOT to eat icecream 5 minutes before hitting the gym. *blergh*

Had another session with Susan (my PT) today. I thought it was at 5pm, but actually it was at 4.30pm! Luckily I went early (4.25pm) to go and warm up ... but ended up having no time at all to warm up ... !

Feeling quite pooped now, maybe because I've been slack over the long weekend (haven't been to the gym since Friday ). Got to make sure I hit the gym EVERYDAY this week .......

Fendi Juke Box purse, with space for multiple iPods. You know, because you can never have too many ...

Designer Karl Lagerfeld uses this to stow all his iPods - a dozen at last count, which translates into around 120,000 tracks, all of which he seems to know where to find.

My regular blog is ... not there any more Actually it's been unaccessible for two days now. Excerpt from an email from LcF (who hosts http://frens.net):

For your information, the server is down because the network is under DDoS attack. All servers under the network are down! We have no idea when will it back.

Bum Guess that means I'll be blogging here for a while ...

Anyway, been thinking of registering a domain and getting some paid hosting ... hmmm ... anyone got any CHEAP and obviously good/reliable suggestions?

Ok, so I don't think jello even exists in Australia (maybe it does, but I haven't been checking out the supermarket shelves that carefully recently) but anyway, that's beside the point ... my arms and legs feel like jelly right now. Came back from another session with my PT, I'm seriously getting addicted to this!!

Everytime I think that she's pushed me to my maximum capacity, she never fails to push me even harder in the next session! :|

I've only got two more sessions with her next week, but I'm thinking whether I should pay for more? In all honesty, I really can't afford it (I'm not working remember!) but I just can feel the improvement ... and I know I will sustain this gym thing more if I do have her around. Hmm, maybe I should cut down to just one session a week? I'm staying in Perth until the end of April so that's another good 6 weeks here ... I don't want all my hard work and effort to go down the drain I've got aspirations for a six-pack you know!! :p (ok ok, a four-pack will do lah)

Gotta rush off now and get ready. Heading out to meet with the girls tonight (yes the tai-tais ) for another 'support group meeting'. Hah!

[ Gotta love free stuff ]
posted @ 07:54 PM by fel

Yesterday afternoon, my dad and I were at the shops (buying vegs and fruits amongst other things) when we drove past the carpark and saw two 96FM roadrunners (is that what they are called? ) giving out free stuff. Never one to turn down freebies, we drove into the carpark and grabbed the freebies ...

Two 500mL cartons of Zoom = chocolate flavoured meal replacement and four sample packs of Eclipse (sugarfree chewing gum). The rest of the stuff was just vouchers and brochures which found their way to the bin very fast ...

I'm drinking one carton of Zoom right now ... it IS filling! I haven't even finished half of it and I'm already ready to give up. It's actually meant to be 99% fat free (hmmm...), high in protein & calcium with 16 vitamins & minerals, contain the fibre of 2 pieces of wholemeal bread, and be taken instead of eating a meal! So, this is my lunch I guess ...

[ Not such a great idea after all ]
posted @ 11:00 PM by fel

Last night, my aunty + I were making curry puff pastry. We kinda ran out of Planta (margarine only found in Asian countries, I think!) so we decided to add butter.

BIG MISTAKE. The pastry became very 'unworkable' and wouldn't stay together. It kept crumbling apart as we tried to put the filling in. And after we tried to bake it, the result was quite disastrous. It didn't look golden brown, rather a pasty beige colour (not unlike uncooked sausage rolls). And it was rock hard.

So we learned a lesson: don't try to be a smart ass and mix margarine and butter. Oh, and that some things can't be compromised ...

Working out at the gym is supposed to be a private thing. You have your own space/machine, and you do what you gotta do. I know that much BUT ... sometimes, I can't help but notice the people around me.

For instance, today whilst I was on the treadmill, the lady next to me was REALLY pissing me off with her jogging technique. There's a proper technique to jogging, you ask? No, not strictly ... but the way this lady was running - legs and heels kicking out, arms floundering as though she were swimming, accompanied by a heavy panting noise - was REALLY really annoying. No matter how hard I tried to concentrate on my own jogging, my own machine, I couldn't help but get peeved by the way this lady ran! Blame peripheral vision ... :\

[ Weekend is here ]
posted @ 03:32 AM by fel

Once again, another week has zipped by and its the weekend. Amazing that I noticed huh, considering that everyday of the week is like a weekend for me cos I'm not studying, not working, not doing anything actually. Yes, I'm such a bum.

And not for the first time, I realised that my life RIGHT NOW is really quite boring. BUT I don't think I really should be complaining too much, seeing that all my friends are in worse (?) predicaments than me - assignments crawling out of their ears, exams, masses of work piling up, employers giving pressure.

And anyway, my abundance of free time will be coming to end shortly. Graduation is coming up in a few weeks, and then Easter is shortly after that. My family is planning a short 2 or 3 day trip up down south (Mandurah/Busselton/Bunbury/Margaret River? not sure yet) during Easter, and I think it will be nice for us to get away for a short while. I'm considering a trip to Melbourne and/or Sydney after Easter to visit some friends and see the sights (I've been to both places before but didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked there). That all depends on finances of course.

Soon after that, I'll be heading over to KL. Administrative stuff needs to be done - passport + new IC - not particularly looking forward to waking up early to beat the long queues! But definitely can't wait to see friends/relatives, EAT and shop like you only can when AUD1 = RM 3

And from KL, my permanent destination - Singapore. Just wondering what lies in store for me there gets me excited

[ Just \"great\" ]

Wonderful, just wonderful. I was just reversing out of the driveway of my friend's house and I pranged a car that was parked opposite. Sheesh. It's one of those old cars (1960's / 70's?) so my fat car just knocked it very slightly and there was a huge dent on the driver's door. My sister, who was in the car at the time, said she couldn't feel a thing ... and I didn't either, that's how slowly I was going and soft the knock was.

The old man to whom the car belongs will be bringing it his repair guy on Monday. From there he can assess the damage and see whether it's worth claiming insurance, or not. From the looks of the dent, no paint came off and it looks like it can be easily popped out. Fingers crossed that this won't cost me an arm and a leg.

Damn. I was just saying last night to my aunty that I've never been involved in any accident before. Really shouldn't speak too fast ...

[ Burnt ]
posted @ 06:08 AM by fel

OUCH! Today was my cousin's 27th birthday and we went out to South Perth for a picnic. Perfect weather, sun was out but there were enough clouds to make it not too hot. Problem with sunny days is that I tend to tan REALLY easily and/or get burnt. SO being the "smart" one, I decided to wear a jacket so that my arms wouldn't get tanned. BUT idiotic me, forgot that my chest was not covered up (cos I was wearing a spaghetti strap singlet) and I was BURNT LIKE A LOBSTER. It's so damn weird cos it's just this one huge rectangular red patch under my neck, whilst the rest of me is fine. Dammit ... can't wait 'til it all peals ... PAIN !_!

Just came home about an hour ago cos I went out for coffee with a couple of friends at Vic Park after the picnic. Sat there for about 3 hours chit-chatting, and lim kopi.

Pictures of my fun day out coming later. Need to put some aloe vera cream on my burn

Here are the pictures from my cousin Desmond's 27th birthday picnic yesterday. Btw, my sun burn is not as red as yesterday ... but I'm not happy about the ugly tan line mark that is left ~_~

Ahh ... picnics (sans sunburn) are fun

Just came home from a great work out at the gym. Not so great was that some old guy tried to pick up. AND then he kept following me around the gym (I did treadmill, he did treadmill. I did the bike, he was doing the arm machine next to the bike. I was on the mats, he was on the mat next to me) trying to make eye contact and conversation.

Sick huh.

Last night, my aunty managed to score 4 free movie tickets to see Pieces of April. It's actually not a recent release (probably released 6 months + ago?) and that's because we didn't watch it in a normal everyday cinema. This was a special outdoor screening at Sommerville Auditorium (UWA). It's a really gorgeous outdoor cinema with a blanket of stars as the ceiling, and giant trees surrounding the four "walls". Nice to have a change from the norm.

The movie itself was really quite touching. It stars Katie Holmes (yes, of Dawson's Creek fame) as April. She's the typical black sheep of the family, the one who somehow doesn't seem to belong. For fear that it might be her mother's last Thanksgiving, she invites her family for dinner at her dingy little apartment on New York's lower East side. It's like a family reunion that almost doesn't happen because of all the disasters that coincidentally occur (e.g. her oven breaks down!). I won't say anymore just in case you feel the urge to rent it out the DVD and I ruin the ending for you ... but to say this: the film was so simple and subtle and carried a very beautiful message. Watch it

Oh and before we watched the movie, we stuffed ourselves with icecream at Il Gelato. MMM... (and that is why I need to go to the gym later)

Pictures!

[ Coffee = awake ]
posted @ 06:40 PM by fel

Last night went out for coffee with a couple of girlfriends. Prior to that, I was feeling really lethargic especially in the afternoon when I was at the gym.

After coming home from a night of gossip and catching up, I found it really difficult to fall asleep. I was tossing and turning and pounding my pillow ... until close to 3 am. Just to clarify, this normally doesn't happen when I drink coffee.

And the best part is that I woke up at 7 am and couldn't get back to sleep. More tossing and turning, and then Mich called me at around 830 am, so I decided to just get up.

I have a strong feeling I'm going to need (or at least feel like) an afternoon nap. More coffee perhaps?

I was innocently shopping in the streets of Perth yesterday when I was approached by a man who asked whether I had a little bit of free time to help him out. He was holding a video camera and with two other men, and I thought he wanted me to press a button on the video camera to take shots of them...

... but actually, he wanted to take video of me! If I'm not wrong, its for the shopping arcade's centre management or some sort of advertisement. What I was required to do was walk up to an electronic information booth and press some buttons ... oh yeh, and smile After walking up and back about 10 times, they were satisfied and thanked me for my help. Haha, maybe I'm going to be tv.....! Haha... NOT.

***

After that, I stumbled across a tent set up on Murray Street mall by CBD Health Spa. They were offering FREE body fat percentage tests ... so I thought, heck why not ... it's FREE! (That's the Asianess in me coming out )

So after queuing and waiting for a good 15 minutes, it was finally my turn! Want to know my results?
blood pressure: 117/68
% body fat: 17.8%
pulse rate: 66

Pretty healthy eh? An added bonus was that they gave a choice of "free gifts" as a thankyou for doing the test:
- free 1 week pass to CBD Health Spa
- 1/2 price solarium
- 1/2 price massage

I went for the free 1 week pass to CBD Health Spa (it's just a fancy name for a gym or health club ), because it's retail value is greater than the other two ... muahaha. Never mind that I already joined 2 other gyms (Fitness First and Zest) and don't even need it ... !
