[ Back to the grind.. welcome 2005 ]

Happy to see the end of 2004, and beginning of a fresh new year ... big hopes for a better year, hopefully 2005 will deliver!
Was away for the Christmas period; went to Malaysia to celebrate Christmas and my grandma's 80th birthday, and it was a big one! Around 60 or so relatives all crammed together, from grandparents to great-grand children; lots of catching up, plenty of food and eating/drinking sessions (I think an average of 5 to 6 meals a day! No wonder I put on weight over this festive season
), karaoke (!) and even a little bit of shopping (MNG up to 50% off sale... argh!) ...
Great to see my sisters and my dad again. My youngest sis and dad came up to Singapore for a few days last week and I spent my days off with them. Will be going back to Perth at the end of this month so I'll be seeing them (and my dear Perth friends!) again soon.
NYE was rather uneventful, but then it usually always is!
A few friends/relatives also have been around during the week and lots of catching up/gossiping/general chit chat. A couple more friends have stepped into town, so will be occupied I guess.. nothing like catching up with old friends.
Nothing much else from me except that I'm going to join the gym ... tomorrow It's time to start the new year on a healthier note ... and I seriously need to get fit, and fast!!

Yay for me, flying off to Perth today. Won't be back til Tuesday, so Singapore don't miss me
Unfortunately though I'm sick, down with an awful cough and in the midst of developing a flu. But I definitely won't let that ruin my trip... !

I'm back. And it does feel all a bit strange, like everything is somewhat familiar yet not entirely so. Not much has changed except my sisters cluttering the house with more stuff (replacing the clutter I used to contribute to the house..)
The haze is irritating though.. apparently the bushfires still haven't been entirely put out, and the effect is much ash and it's causing my throat/nose to irritate.. the smell is just awful!
Anyway, I'm going to go out and get a meat pie and/or sausage roll - something I've been CRAAAAAVING for a long, long time - and then crash into bed. I'm just so exhausted from all the rushing about and traveling.

It's been nice being home thus far
Sleeping in my old bed again, I've missed it strange as it sounds and the familiarity of the surroundings of my bedroom. And somehow, it's been a long time since I've had such a good night's sleep...
Also, Dad has been cooking up a storm, any dish at my request
Home cooked food is something I definitely miss, both the yummi-ness factor and the not having to cook yourself factor. 
And of course, spending a lot of time meeting up with old friends. But coming back made me really realise how many people have left Perth (mostly for the Eastern states!!) .. and how few people I know here now Ah there's still quite a number of people still here, and will be here for some time (including two of my friends who recently got engaged!) .. but it's just a realisation that we're all really growing up and we're all in the midst of new phases in our lives.
A good friend of mine said to me today that she thought that I'd be the first to get married (HAHA) and settle down .. but funnily enough (especially with me being unattached and all!), I really don't think so. On that front, I'm feeling rather ... disillusioned about relationships and that "jazz". Won't go into that now, not the time or place .. haha.
I've actually noticed something quite amusing; I've now been referred to as "a friend from Singapore"! I have lived in Perth for almost 20 years and Singapore for less than 1 year, but that doesn't stop friends introducing me to other people as being from Singapore! Haha, so those 20 years don't count for anything huh.......
Anyway, two more days left and I'll be going back to my new "home" ... Singapore.

It's been nice being home thus far

I've returned to Singapore. Got home from the airport at around 10.30pm. Flight was delayed in landing, here's what happened; we were descending and all of a sudden, the plane started ascending all over again and moving away from the runway. The pilot then announced that there was some rubber tyre on the runway so as a safety precaution, it had to be removed. We made a huge round, and we landed about half an hour later.
Anyway, haven't even had much time to settle back down. After getting home, I unpacked two of my bags and then collapsed into bed. Woke up (late!) this morning, and headed to work (which is where I am now).. and can't wait to go home to catch up on some sleep and unpack my last bag!
