I find myself daydreaming about what I can buy from 7-Eleven. Sounds stupid I know, but I've found myself drawn into the marketing ploy they have at the moment - Hello Kitty magnets! Every $5 you spend, you get a free Hello Kitty magnet.. 31 to collect.. argh.
I know, I know.. I'm not a kid anymore.. but oh, they are so CUTE!! *ahem* Anyway, there are many people in the office who are full-on collecting the magnets; there are many trades going on under the table during working hours haha...
Sad to say, this isn't the first time I've been "conned" into this kinda thing. Speaking of Hello Kitty, I've gorged myself with disgusting amounts of MacDonalds for the Hello Kitty dolls.. you know, the matching Hello Kitty/Dear Daniel sets that you have to pay for on top of your fattening, unhealthy fries and burger. Hmm and yes, MacDonalds always has these "promotions" - I used to stay up until midnight, before driving out to the 24-hr MacD's nearby my house (back in Perth) so that I could collect the Snoopy's.. at the same time, stuffing myself silly with a MacD's supper. Hmm. Why do I always fall for the same tricks?

I had forgotten how much fun it is to webcam with my sis. I rarely touch my laptop at home on weekdays (I spend enough hours at work on the lappy!) but it just happened last night, I decided to check my mail before going to bed .. and saw my sis online, and we decided to have some fun.
I think it was because various family members kept popping in and out - my cousin, my aunty, my dad, my other sisters - and interjecting their comments (most common one was that I looked drained). As I'm on wireless, I was also able to give my sis a tour of my apartment! haha...
Aii.. I do miss my sisters

Something I received from one of my colleagues this morning.
Although the answer to this riddle is far-stretched, it a good comic relief. Enjoy!
Imagine you are in Africa. You have been tied hanging on a tree with a rope anchored on the ground, a candle is slowly burning the rope, and the lion is waiting for you to drop and be his lunch.
Your survival hinges on the rope staying intact, there is no one around to help you.
The only possible way is to somehow convince the lion to BLOW the candle out. How do you do that?

Answer posted on Monday! Enjoy your weekend...

My colleague came back yesterday from her 10 day honeymoon in Japan with lots of goodies for us. Amongst them was this little gem (which I had requested that she look out for) - Kit Kat Green Tea flavour! My uncle's gf introduced it to me, and every time she flies over (she's an air stewardess) she'll stock up. It's really very nice, something like the green tea ice cream flavour .. I finished it already tho, hehe.

Walnut cheesecake at Original Sin (Holland V) = heaven ..
.. but maybe it had something to do with the fact that I didn't feel quite that satisfied after having a vegetarian meal, and the cheesecake just did it's thing. It's not that I don't like vegetables, but I just do like my meat.. a lot

A few days ago a revelation hit me on the head; it was time (actually more like overdue!) that I get off that fat lazy butt of mine and head to the gym, or else I'd be on road of no return. Since my move to Singapore, I'd go to the gym extremely spasmodically. Due to the lack of motivation, perhaps time (though that was always an excuse to procrastinate), and whatever other reasons I gave myself, I have only been to the gym about 5 or 6 times, perhaps gone for a run around my neighbourhood twice … so as you can imagine, much weight has been gained. Specifically, 5-6 kg – which, my friends, is a helluva lot. I don't think I've ever been this "heavy".. and I really do feel a little pudgy round the edges.
Actually a few months ago, I had said to myself – after CNY and all that sinful eating, I'll go to the gym and build up my fitness and lose the fat. About 3 months later, I finally went for the first time since I joined Planet Fitness (that was way back in February… I know, I know!). I'm feeling the motivation now though, I think once you actually go and work out, you do feel better – both mentally and physically. Although, now I realise how damn easy it is to get unfit! A year ago I was so into the gym with my PT and all .. hahaha, and look at me now – huffing and puffing on the treadmill, enviously eyeing all the fitness freaks.
On Friday, my company has organised this "Lunch @ the Gym" session at California Fitness. Everyone got their own personal trainer to work out with and after that, lunch was provided (tuna, egg or chicken sandwich and a piece of fruit .. meh, too healthy
). It reminded me of my session with my PT last year (Susan), and really increased my motivation .. although, the PT that was allocated to me was male. Actually, now that I think of it, none of the PTs were female .. hmm I wonder why that is? I'm thinking of taking it up again, probably just for 2 or 3 months until I can see some sort of result and then go back to working out again.. although, these guys are pretty pricey (around $100-$120 an hour). But anything to get rid of the curves in the wrong places!!

After 5 long years of university (plus 5 years of high school, and 7+1 years of primary school), I was sure that I would be done for studying for at least sometime. I guess I've been lucky enough so far, I haven't been studying part-time like most of my ex-uni classmates .. although arguably, I've been working much later hours than they back in Australia.
Anyhow, this is all coming to an end come July. I've decided to do my CPA (under ICPAS) cos my company is willing to pay for it (it would cost over $5k if I were to pay for it myself). Actually, it has very little to do with the work I do, but I suppose it's a professional qualification worth having. And I don't want my brain to rot away, I guess studying some more will help it keep "active"?
Eventually I want to do my MBA, perhaps my CFA .. haha, not that I'm trying to collect letters but i suppose (as cliched as it sounds) learning should be continuous and indefinite process. Anyhow, let's see how this next one year of studying goes, eh?!

As disgusting as this sounds, I have a HUGEEEE craving for KFC.

Craving just satisifed

Had KFC for dinner with a few of my colleagues, and tried out the new flavour "curry crunch". It wasn't all that I expected it to be, but it wasn't too bad .. however, I feel that you can only eat one piece and you've had enough. Kinda indian flavour. Also, the green "curry leaves" look a bit artificial to be.
Still feeling very full, at least I don't feel too guilty since I did a 5.6km run today (training up for the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge - next Wed evening!).

So I had a PT session with the same dude from Cal Fit again yesterday .. and guess what? I got pyscho-ed into signing up for a package
(not to worry, only 8 x 1 hr weekly sessions). Here's to a fitter, shaplier me ... Went down to Paragon today with S for lunch at this soba restaurant in the basement. (Yummy!) He promptly went off to study for his exam, whilst I wandered upstairs and booked an appointment with Browhaus for eye brow threading. Oosh, it's more painful than I thought it would be and I started involuntarily tearing! She said it's normal though for the first time to hurt, it gets easier the more times you do it... and guess what? I signed up for a package for 10 sessions
Bye bye

The art of threading originated in Arabia and South Asia. A special thread is twisted and pulled along the area of unwanted hair. The thread acts like a mini-lasso and lifts the hair follicle directly from the root.
Some benefits of threading:
The Ouch(less) Factor – It is found by many to be much less painful than waxing. Since threading only targets the individual hairs, skin irritation is kept to a minimum, unlike waxing, which often causes unnecessary stretching and removal of the skin’s delicate top layers.
An Art of Perfection – Threading is very precise and allows greater control than waxing, resulting in a better brow shape.
Au Naturale – Threading is 100% natural, there are no artificial waxes, chemicals, or invasive techniques used.
All Off! – Even those short stubbly hairs can be removed.
The Taming of the Flame – Minimal redness occurs after threading, and any redness that does appear, usually subsides within an hour. [nb. personally, within half an hour, the redness was gone]
Anti-Acne – The majority of people that breakout from waxing tend to not break out from threading. Also, threading is completely safe and dermatologist-recommended for individuals who are currently using medications like Accutane and Retin-A.
Wrinkle Prevention – Warning: waxing can tug, pull, stretch, and even remove the delicate skin on your face, eventually facilitating in the development of wrinkles! But there is good news, threading does none of this.

It's quite a quick, slightly painful (well, waxing is painful too, isn't it!) procedure that takes 5 to 10 minutes.. and you're left with nice shapely eyebrows. Browhaus (at Paragon, a place totally dedicated to grooming eyebrows!) charges $15+, but if you sign up for the package (this is how I got conned), it's only $10 per session. And well groomed eyebrows are definitely worth it!

Yesterday was the big day of the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge in Singapore. What unadulterated fun it was, running 5.6km (3.5 miles) in the stinky heat along with another 9,330 hot sweaty people along the city streets. I kid you not, I was dripping with perspiration before I had started the race (I can hear you all saying "eww" right now, and yes it was pretty eww); reason being we were all, yes all 9,330 of us, lined up in front of the starting line along the Esplanade bridge around half an hour before the actual race began.. and there wasn't much breathing space to say the least. (The lovely smell of 9,330 people sweating really got me into the mood..)
Anyhow, once the race began, it didn't really get any much better. Kept getting bumped into by various people because it really was THAT crowded. Did I mention that my company's shirts were probably one of the crappiest - some crappy cheap nylon-cotton mass printed stuff, basically material that did not breathe and really quite suffocating. We saw some of the companies had dri-fit material (sponsored by Nike!), and many companies were sponsored by New Balance or FBT. Arggh, but not us.. next year let's hope they improve on the "uniform".
Nonetheless, after all this complaining, I think I shall start training .. and do it again next year!
