[ Perth and back ]
posted @ 12:43 AM by fel

Returned back to Singapore from a 9 day sabbatical in Perth (yes, AGAIN!). In summary, it was fun trip (well, most of it) and now back to the grind

More and pictures later!

[ Rewind: "bravo" ]
posted @ 10:10 AM by fel

A couple of pictures from my company's annual D&D; I realize these are about one month old now but as the cliche goes, better late than never!!

The theme: BRAVO, a musical extravaganza!

[ Sukiyaki pajama party ]
posted @ 08:31 AM by fel

Sukiyaki parties must be one of the easiest things to do (similarly, steamboat parties). In an early celebration of S's birthday, a couple of us went over to Y's house on Saturday night for a sukiyaki party .. delicious and like I said, so easy to do! Opened a bottle of red and watched Must Love Dogs (soppy romantic comedy) in our PJs, whilst ooh-ing and aah-ing and wondered why the good looking men (case in point, Dermot Mulroney) are all still just assholes in the end.

[ KTV, Zuma, A Twist of Fate ]
posted @ 03:38 AM by fel

Another fun-filled weekend for all involved. Here's a quick summary:

Friday night, straight out from work: Belgian beers @ Oosters, then whiskey, karaoke and a lot of 5-10 (HAHA how Asian is that!).

Saturday lazed around at home, multi-tasking between finishing off some work and watching SATC (entire Season 4 in one day, oops ). Party at Zuma (new restaurant cum bar in Clarke Quay opened by the Attica people), followed by Attica (r'n'b!!) on Sat night. Bumped into an old friend from Perth who just moved to Singapore about 3 weeks ago. Was such a very nice coincidence that we both happened to see each other at Attica.

Sunday, (reluctantly) left the house to watch A Twist of Fate, a Singaporean musical, at the Esplanade Theatre. Quite amusing and entertaining, but a somewhat predictable plot. Something a bit silly and fun to watch. "I kill chickens" was my favourite song, if that indicates anything at all about the "seriousness" of the musical!

[ Me = Workaholic? ]
posted @ 04:07 AM by fel

I think I'm bordering on the stage of workaholic; it's almost 7pm and I didn't even realize it was that time .. I felt as though it was still very early (like early afternoon). Is it because I love my job so much? *puke*

Anyway nonsense aside, will be heading off soon to get a facial and massage (I signed up for a package with FIL, yes I'm a sucker for these things!!) and then to catch the 4th instalment of Harry Potter. I think I deserve to spend my Thursday night not in the office!

[ The problem with beauticians (and sales people in general) ]
posted @ 02:02 AM by fel

What a fool I am. Here I was thinking I could have a lovely relaxing stress-free time whilst going for my facial/massage yesterday, but I was so wrong .. well, not completely wrong but I should have known it coming. "It" be conned by the beauty consultant to purchase more treatments/packages .. whilst lying there (semi-)naked, with my eyes closed, trying my best to relax, I was slowly being suckered into signing for a collagen mask, various other eye/face treatments .. she even tried to get me interested in a slimming package (!!!!) by saying that exercise wouldn't help me (much) in attaining the figure that I wanted - the line was drawn there, definitely wouldn't sign up for such a thing! (but liposuction on the other hand ... ) This is the problem; sales targets and associated commissions. These girls cannot just concetrate on doing their job (i.e. giving me afacial/massage), but must somehow persuade (aka con) their customers into signing up for beauty packages in order to meet their targets. And these girls are seriously pushy.

Ok, so other than all this sales talk, the actual facial and massage were great (minus the painful extraction, thank goodness I don't have that many blackheads) .. especially the massage, I have been in need for one for the longest time!

[ KL weekend: Shop, eat, drink ]
posted @ 06:08 AM by fel

It was to KL for the weekend, and yes, much fun was had by myself and my two companions. We three girls shopped, ate, and partied and definitely made the most of the short weekend escape. (Short being zipping out of Singapore after work on Friday evening, and back on Sunday very late night - by the time I reached home yesterday, it was already past 1 am.. and yes, back to work today)

Shopped at Midvalley, Lot 10, KL Plaza, KLCC. My loot:
- 2 bags (one black clutch, one metallic purple/pewter)
- 2 pairs of shoes (one black, one metallic purple/pewter)
- 1 balloon skirt (Mell, a Malaysian designer)
- 2 sets of underwear (La Senza)
- 2 A+F tees
- various hair accessories
.. and this is shopping with restraint

Ate A LOT of delicious Malaysian food (sorry, KL food is just SO much better and cheaper than Singaporean food!). Gorged myself at:
- Jalan Alor (char kway teow, kang kong with belacan, lala)
- Jalan Imbi (bak kut teh)
- Lotus (various roti, satay, teh ais that kicks ass over any you can find in Singapore)
- SS2 (assam laksa, yau char kwai (aka you tiao aka "chinese donut"), haam ziin baang (sorry, i don't know the translation - but its red bean filled deep fried chinese donut))
Hmm ... spot the foodie!! haha ... Missed out on Ramly burger (had some shitty version at Yong Peng, but that does not count), hokkien mee, sau hor fun ... to keep in mind for the next trip!

Party-wise; Friday night at Zeta bar (at the Hilton). Nice place but ouch, the drinks were pricey! Saturday night, checked out Bar Savanh and the other places down at Asian Heritage Row - quite empty - so proceeded to Poppy/Passion which was super happening! Oh, except for the part where some girl leaned over and puked over my friend's feet .. lucky she was quick and dodged (most of) it.

Once again, thanks to K for being a gracious host/chaffeur .. hehe!
