[ 2006, a new year begins ]
posted @ 05:17 AM by fel

Well, here's to a brand new start and happy 2006 to all! The air is full of optimism (but let's just see how long that lasts.........)

Got back from my Malaysia/Hong Kong getaway yesterday, and it was straight back into the office today to kickstart the year. It's been pretty busy today, and it doesn't help that I've suddenly fallen sick (cough, sore throat, runny nose...), hmm wonder why that always happens after I come back from a holiday?

Anyhow, had a good ol' time during my 10 day break from the office. Spent two days at my grandparents' place for Christmas and celebrating my grandmother's birthday. The annual family gathering with the usual suspects (virtually my entire paternal side); food, food and lots of stuffing of; my cousin's car breaking down at City Square; and of course, spending time with my sisters and Dad.

Less than 12 hours after reaching back into Singapore from Malaysia, I was off to Changi and flying to the land of dim sum, Hong Kong to meet up with the other members of the (in)famous taitai club who flew in from Perth/Sydney. We had an absolutely fantastic time, and it reminded me how much I really missed spending time with my girlfriends! Much shopping (damage to my wallet wasn't too bad - 3 pairs of shoes, 1 top with matching necklace, one overnight bag, kogepan PJs and various other knick-knacks .. but I can't say much for the others), many many visits to Sasa (that place is so addictive), Disneyland (personalized mickey mouse ears, yeaaah!), plenty of eating (although I know one taitai who seemed to be perpetually hungry haha ), overdosing on the mango sago drink at Hui Lau Shan, some drinking/clubbing (Aqua at TST, various bars/clubs at Lan Kwai Fong - Lux, Insomnia, Volar, Hei Hei) and an intimate new year's eve (Indochine at Lan Kwai Fong) followed by a battle with the crowds .. all passed by like the blink of an eye. As they say, time flies when you're having fun ..

So taitais; where's the next destination?

This seems to be the only picture on my camera with all 5 of us. Taken at our NYE dinner venue, Indochine 1929 down at Lan Kwai Fong (which as an aside, served very delicious Vietnamese food!). More pictures to come, once I bug the other taitai's for the photos!!

And btw Miss P, you were sorely missed on our trip!!

Arrived back in Singapore from a 6 days, 5 nights trip to Bangkok, one of my favourite holiday destinations. As usual, shopped it up at Siam and Chatuchak, partied/drank like there was no tomorrow (Diplomat, Hu'u, Met Bar, Bamboo Bar), and gorged myself on delicious Thai food (lots of delicious but cheap roadside food, the beef noodles were to DIE for).. and who could forget, the cheap cheap massages. Least favourite part was the dodgy hotel, but I suppose you get what you pay for! I am now planning my next trip there.....

Going home next week

No, we didn't buy the crowns to match our outfits, they were party favours from the restaurant where we had our NYE dinner.

This is meant as a "btw"; girls, I STILL haven't received your uploaded photos from the trip!!!!

How fast time is flying, already 3 weeks into 2006 .. so many things have happened, so many changes in all aspects of my life .. but I can feel that 2006 is going to be MY YEAR. (finally)

[ 2 years missing her ]

Today is the second year anniversary of my mom's passing away. A lot has happened in the last two years; some things I think she'd be really proud of and happy about, others probably not so. I still think of her all the time, there are even some days when I "forget" that she's not around and want to pick up the phone and call her to tell her something that happened...

But life has moved forward, as I'm sure she would have wanted, and I think I'm doing the best I can.

Sorry for the lateness of this but HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR everyone!! All the best for the Year of the Dog, health wealth and prosperity....... and anyway, I just KNOW it's going to be a great year

Just got back from Perth early this morning after spending a week there for Chinese New Year as well as my friend's engagement party. Had a fantastic time, catching up with many of my friends and my family, huuuuge reunion dinner, 7 hours straight of looking at bridal gowns (!!), eating/drinking/gambling, and you know, not working. BUT sigh, its back to reality tomorrow...

However, I have this huge silly grin on my face right now but I cannot divulge the reason as to why ...........
