[ from Reunion Dinner ]

My sisters and I at Chinese New Year Eve (chu xi) Reunion Dinner. Some dodgy restaurant in Maylands (Perth) called Wing Bo. Food was so-so, service was TERRIBLE.

So 4 tables, approximately 50 family members, but almost half of them still "children" (i.e. unmarried) .. and I was the oldest (boo). Actually all my older cousins are mostly married and/or overseas (in Malaysia/Singapore), so all my uncles/auntiess were focusing the attention on me .. i.e. the "when are you going to get married" and "you're not getting any younger" and "i know this nice boy..." kind of nonsense. Whatever!

Almost two months of 2006 have passed, and I have been extremely lazy in updating. Though give me the benefit of the doubt, I have been busy like beyond imaginable. And its all thanks to that four letter word - WORK. I was working U.S. times for a couple of days last week; not too fun, heading to the office at 1am and struggling until the next morning, dragging tired feet, mind and body home whilst the early morning crowd is rushing to get into work. Ever since my Perth trip and thanks to a huge reshuffle in my team and workload (thank the IRAS for that!), things have been pretty hectic on the work front .. I don't think things are going to be lightening up too soon, especially since two of the more senior/experienced people in my team have left and the third most senior is being seconded out to Shanghai in a mere few months. Well, at least it will keep me busy and my mind from wandering (too much)
But don't get the wrong impression, I still have been maintaining somewhat of a life. I attended a wedding of two friends two weeks ago at the Raffles Hotel, a beautiful affair with lots of bubbly consumed. Franz Ferdinand concert last week, absolutely fantastic, I love them more and more (though I can't say much about the crappy location/acoustics/sound equipment or the fact that it was non-alcoholic/non-smoking event... like what the!!). The Raffles Food, Wine and Art festival, held last week, was a wonderful experience. I snuck in for the opening reception; exquisite, sinfully rich food, free flow wine and Taittinger champagne (and I even met Mr Taittinger himself who strangely advised me "do not find a faithful man".. !!), combined with some fantastic company .. bliss!
Other than that, the normal drinking/partying schedule, Wednesday mambo nights at Zouk, Friday / Saturday nights partying and everything else in between (if I can find the time/energy). This weekend has been particularly good to me: number one, no work; number two, found inspiration and time to cook both yesterday and today; number three, managed to get my lazy butt to the gym for two hours yesterday; number four, had a fun but tiring night out at loof then attica last night; number five, lots of sleeping in and lazing around. Couldn't ask for more!
