[ On the hunt for a place to live ]

Spent the entire Wednesday searching for apartments, being driven around by my relocation agents (yes, there are two!) looking for potential rentals. No, didn't find anything that stood out of the 10 odd apartments I looked at, and only 2 very very maybe's...... Some very horrid places out there too, and I saw awful green shag carpet, too much linoleum, and a hot pink oven. HMM, may be my budget's tight, may be this is the standard of the apartments around, but whatever it is, I need to find something decent AND SOON; corporate housing is only until next weekend. I'm actually considering moving quite far away into the more exciting area of town, but the commute time (an hour or more) is making me think twice, and not to mention the higher rental/smaller space factor. But I am only young once......
Decisions, decisions, decisions...
Wish me luck!

Spent the day (Sunday) out and about in the city, meeting up and hanging out with some friends and checking out the various areas. Drove up (brave, if I must say so myself!) and around the crazy city, managed to not get lost and to my destination right on time. Fantastic weather - this is why I came here!! - especially to zip up the freeway with the top of my convertible down
Backtracking a little, Saturday was another lovely sunshine-filled day. A friend of friends back in Perth took me out for the day, and he was so lovely enough to bring me to Ranch 99 (a HUGE Asian grocery store) where I was finally able to procure soya sauce!
Well in other news, I am still looking for an apartment, and another full day of viewings scheduled tomorrow. I REALLY need to find a place!!!!

I was lucky enough to go back home for Chinese New Year, to spend a couple of days with my family and friends before heading out to the States. Too short a trip (as always!), but glad to have been home

The Vines, Swan Valley

Out in the bush.. somewhere in the hills of Swan Valley

Kanga! on the side of the road

Scarborough Beach, full of kite-surfers

The sun, the surf, the sand

My favourite beach - Cottesloe

Matilda Bay

Perth City, as viewed from King's Park
If it weren't for a certain wedding that I HAVE to attend in December (*ahem*), I don't know when the next time I would go back. As much as I do miss my family, my friends at home, my feet are just too itchy for travel ... digressing a little, but Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Peru, Canada, England, and France are on the cards this year and not to mention the rest of this vast country! Am I just a little too ambitious? heh......

Tomorrow I move into my new flat! So very, very exciting... It is an unfurnished unit (furnished apartments here are crazy expensive!), and all I have been doing of late is looking at furniture and homeware websites, going to furniture, bedding, linen stores after work, and thinking of how I'm going to do up my new empty space. Oh and not to forget all the electronics (TVs, DVDs, and whatever else one needs these days). Setting up a new home is tiring business! I haven't even been craving my normal vices; oh no, is this the beginning of the end of the old crazy party-til-dawn me and of the new home-decorating me?! Naaa, I very much doubt it - old habits die hard
Tomorrow night, plans to check out the club scene in the new city!

More pictures from Perth - family time!

@ Llama Bar, Subiaco, with my sis

@ Llama Bar, with my (baby) cousin Eddie

Partying it up with my sisters! @ Ambar

Posing in between dim sum @ Sure Line (who names their restaurant "sure (got) line" except an Asian!!)

My dad and my sis and two kumquats. No idea.

Customary CNY Lion Dance

With my (tall!) sis @ Houghton, Swan Valley

South Ocean (yummy crabs!) with my sisters

Again with my sis whilst waiting for food

At home with my sisters
Ahhh, I miss the good times of behaving plain silly with my sisters, I don't think I'll ever outgrow it! I realize its probably one of the last times we'll all be together in that house. Sis number 2 moving to Queensland (don't get me started!), and Dad is looking to sell the house, but don't know when. Although its been 3 years since I left and given my nomadic behaviour, somehow that house will always be "home"... it will be a strange feeling to go back to Perth, but not back to that house.
***
In other news, am currently in the East coast of this country - New Jersey and later this week, New York! My first time, so I shall go picture/tourist crazy ... !
